My name is Madeleine Sheikh, 28 years old and currently living in Stockholm, Sweden. I am an Industrial Design Engineer with a broad profile combining the two disciplines of mechanical engineering and industrial design, with a strong passion for user-centered design, innovation and technology.

I am currently working as a consultant for Knightec AB and my current assignment involves developing a new product category of suction cups for Piab AB where I am the responsible design engineer conducting all parts of the development process from concept to finished product. Within my role I have also gained experience in working with Chinese suppliers. 

 

I have previous project experience from working with different companies e.g. Bombardier Transportation, Scania, Hertz, Abilia, Alfort & Cronholm etc.  My master thesis was conducted at Bombardier Transportation, an innovation project where I was investigating possible use case scenarios where the use of drones would create significant value for the railway industry. The thesis resulted in 15 identified use case scenarios, the filing of three patent applications and the thesis report.

 

During my studies, I worked at Apple for  2.5 years and advanced through three different roles. The most important thing from my experience, both academic and professional, is that I am result-driven, organized, efficient, a fast learner and a dependable team member. During my employment as a Genius at Apple has developed my troubleshooting skills and Mac Hardware skills, but also managing stressful situations, calm others in tough situations, and to communicate and educate people with different levels of knowledge, background and personalities.

 

As a person, I am calm social and outgoing and find it easy to make new contacts. I am responsible, determined, I find it easy to work in a group and prefer situations where I’m constantly challenged to learn new things. The areas I am passionate about include User-centered Design, Innovation, Sustainable Development, Ergonomics, Eco Design and Service Design.

I truly believe that it is our responsibility as Engineers graduating in today's society to dedicate our work to make this world a better place for future generations.
